How can I tell seconds from milliseconds?
Current dates are 10 digits in seconds (e.g. 1700000000) and 13 digits in milliseconds (1700000000000). Auto-detect treats values of 100 billion or more as milliseconds, and 15+/18+ digits as micro-/nanoseconds. Override with the Unit menu.
What is the Year 2038 problem?
Systems that store Unix seconds in a signed 32-bit integer overflow at 2147483647 – 03:14:07 UTC on 19 January 2038. JavaScript uses 64-bit numbers, so this converter handles dates far beyond that.
Do Unix timestamps include leap seconds or time zones?
Neither. A Unix timestamp counts seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z ignoring leap seconds, and it is the same instant everywhere – the time zone only matters when displaying it.
