Frequently asked questions
Which browsers can convert HEIC here?
Honest answer: only Safari (iOS/iPadOS 17+ and macOS) can decode HEIC, because Apple ships the decoder. Chrome, Firefox and Edge on Windows or Android cannot read HEIC in the browser yet, so the file will show an "unsupported format" error there.
I'm on Windows – what can I do?
On the iPhone, go to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible so new photos are saved as JPG, or Settings → Photos → Transfer to Mac or PC → Automatic, which converts to JPG when copying. Then use this page to compress or resize.
Why does my iPhone use HEIC?
HEIC stores the same quality in about half the size of JPG. The downside is that many websites and Windows apps still don't open it.
