What is the difference between Lossless and the quality presets?
Lossless only rewrites the file structure, so everything stays sharp and selectable, but savings are usually small. Low/Medium/High redraw each page as a JPEG at 72/110/150 DPI, which shrinks scans a lot but turns text into pixels.
Will I still be able to select or search text?
With Lossless, yes. With Low, Medium or High, no – pages become images. Keep the original if you need copy-paste or search.
Why did my PDF not get smaller?
Text-only PDFs are already compact, and rasterizing them often makes them bigger. Quikkit never returns a larger file: it falls back to the lossless version or your original.
Which preset should I use for email?
Medium (110 DPI) keeps scans readable on screen at a fraction of the size. Use High for documents that may be printed.
